Zhang Xiaogang’s Filette en Violette presents a haunting, surreal portrait of a young girl, rendered in soft hues with a vivid golden blemish interrupting her otherwise muted face. Part of The Storyteller’s Enchantment series, this signed lithograph explores memory and identity through a dreamlike lens, combining emotional restraint with subtle surrealist distortion. 

The artwork belongs to a limited-edition set of twenty lithographs, created in 2009 and inspired by archival family photographs and the artist’s interrogation of collective identity under China’s Cultural Revolution era.
